Classes Offered at Top Hat Lancaster
Basic Ballroom Classes:
Our Basic Ballroom 1 Class is the perfect introductory class for anyone just starting out in the world of partner dancing. In this class, you will learn the beginning level material in Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Salsa and East Coast Swing. Basic Ballroom 2 continues with the next level in each of the dances from the level 1 class, adding more advanced concepts and material to each dance.
Latin 3 focuses on the intricacies of each of the Rumba, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, and Salsa, from Basic Ballroom 1 & 2 with the addition of Samba & Bolero. Students will work on Cuban Motion and Arm Styling as they increase their leading and following abilities. The Latin 3 class is perfect for the student interested in learning how to dance beyond the steps.
The Smooth 3 class touches on partnering techniques and will increase your step 'vocabulary' in theWaltz, Foxtrot & Tango from Basic Ballroom 1 & 2, while adding the Viennese Waltz & Quickstep. Students will also work on the more intricate points of Dance Frame and Rise & Fall. Moving beyond the steps, this class will incorporate all the necessary elements to make your partner dancing look and feel a step ahead.
This class is designed for students with little or no experience with the Hustle. The class will focus on the essential basic figures of the dance. A comfortable understanding of these figures is necessary before partaking in the Hustle 2 class.
This is an beginner/intermediate level class. The instructors will build on the basic figures by teaching longer combinations and detailed technique. The students will also begin to learn arm styling and variations on basic footwork. A solid understanding of the material taught in Hustle 1 is required for this class.
Nightclub Two-Step 1 & 2:
This dance is perfect for slow dancing at any social gathering or party. Tradionally danced to the slower ballades of the country music world, this dance is extremely versatile as it incorporates turn patterns and other movements from many different dance styles.
West Coast Swing:
West Coast Swing 1
This is the place to learn the basics and build a strong foundation. The mysteries of 6 & 8 count patterns will be unraveled as you perfect whips, tuck turns, and other fun steps. If you have experience in West Coast Swing, consider taking this class to sharpen your skills.
Ballet is beneficial to all dancers as it is the foundation for all dance styles. Students will increase flexibility, balance, and turning ability as they learn Ballet basics. This class is excellent for anyone hoping to gain body awareness and control as well as learning the grace and beauty that Ballet teaches.
