Wow! April was an exciting month and May is stacking up to be even better! With summer on its way make sure you stay up to date with all of the exciting and incredible things that are coming to the dance floors at Top Hat!
First we want to thank and congratulate all of the Top Hat competitors who went to the Philadelphia Festival Atlantic Coast Championships at the Philadelphia Airport Marriot. Top Hat brought home a plethora of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons and it was amazing to look out over the "sea" of Top Hat members at the Saturday Night Banquet! Thank you all for making the weekend such a wonderful and magical experience. If you weren't able to make it this year you will definitely want to mark your calendars for next year. This event was a great one!
Also, we cannot thank all of you enough who have made the Saturday Night Morph Parties a huge success! Your energy, time, and talent have created an atmosphere that has overwhelmed the studio with a sense of welcoming home. The Morph Parties will continue on into May (see below for more details) and we hope to see you on the dance floor!

Last month Top Hat added a new party series to its calendar. Our first two Morph Parties were a great success in large part because of all of the wonderful dancers who came out shared in those nights of dancing. We can't thank you enough and we hope that you had as much fun as we did!!
What is a Morph Party you ask? A Morph Party is a Top Hat creation where all dancers can come together and enjoy an evening of dancing regardless of the specific dances they do. At the beginning of each party there is a Ballroom and Latin mix of music and dancing that will also incorporate Hustle, Swing, and Salsa. As the evening continues the party then Morphs into a specific dance style on a rotating schedule throughout the month.
Each of the parties has an All Levels Group Class starting at 8:00pm and the party begins immediately at 9:00pm. The cost of the evening, including the group class and party, is $10 per person. There are light food and beverages provided and all of the parties at Top Hat are BYOB.
Please remember to always double check the studio website for changes and/or cancellations in the schedule. 
2nd Saturday of every month join us for our Ballroom Morph Party with a great mix of Ballroom, Latin, Hustle, Salsa, & Swing music playing all night!
3rd Saturday of every month join us for our Hustle Morph Party where the music will start with a Ballroom and Latin mix that will Morph into one of the Hottest Hustle Parties Around!
4th Saturday of every month join us for our West Coast Morph Party. Starting with a mix of Ballroom and Latin music, this party will Morph into a night of dancing to some of the best West Coast Swing music in Philadelphia.
Please help us welcome Joe Figueroa to the staff of Top Hat Dance Studio. Starting in May, Joe will be teaching a new Salsa program every Friday Night here at Top Hat. Joe Figueroa is one of the most sought after salsa instructors / choreographers in the country. He began his career as a professional dancer for MTV Studios, and continued his training with numerous world renowned dancers. He has developed a distinctive style of salsa dancing known as "Philly Style Salsa" - an explosive style that combines smooth moves with sharp, complicated turn patterns.
Joe currently teaches salsa dance classes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. The interest in his teaching has led him to instruct at workshops and congresses around the globe, including Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Greece. In addition, Joe can be seen performing weekly throughout the tri-state area.

Classes will run to schedule for the month of May. Top Hat heads to Miami, Florida May 3-6 for the International Hustle & Salsa Competition. Because of IHSC, Basic Ballroom 1 & 2, Adult Ballet, and Intermediate Styling and Technique will be cancelled Wednesday through Monday, May 2nd through May 7th. All other classes will run to schedule during this week. Please check the studio's calendar to confirm all of this month's schedule changes. We continue our Morph Parties this month on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturday of the month. On Saturday, May 12, 2007 we will be hosting our Ballroom & Latin Morph Party. On Saturday, May 19, 2007 we will be hosting our Hustle Morph Party. . And on Saturday, May 26, 2007 we will be hosting our West Coast Swing Morph Party. There will be an all levels group class at 8:00pm and the party will get started at 9:00pm. The cost of the party is $10 per person and you are welcome to BYOB. If you have any questions, please contact the studio. Basic Ballroom 1 & 2 will begin a new 6 week series starting on Wednesday, May 23rd. In BB1 (7:30pm) we will start East Coast Swing and in BB2 (8:30pm) we will continue with the Tango from BB1. Classes will run to schedule for the month of May. Top Hat heads to Miami, Florida May 3-6 for the International Hustle & 
Salsa Competition. Because of IHSC, classes are cancelled the first week of May, the 2nd through the 4th. There will be no monthly studio party in the month of May. Our 4th Friday of the Month Studio party will resume in June.
All private lessons on Friday, April 13th will be cancelled in the Lancaster Studio. Good Luck to all of the competitors who will be traveling to Philadelphia for the Festival Dancesport Championships.

Recital rehearsal will be held on Saturday, June 9th from 3:30-7pm. This will give everyone a chance to practice in the large room and to experience what performance day will be like. There will be a pizza party for the children at the conclusion of the rehearsal.
Recital day is June 10th at 12pm. All those participating are to arrive at the studio by 11am for last minute preparations.
The recital is open to everyone, so please come and support the Ballet School and all the young members of the Top Hat family!
This summer there are exciting opportunities for young dancers. Two, one day workshops will be offered for all little ones who love to dance. Dates for these FREE workshops are Sunday, July 22nd and Sunday, August 26th. More information to follow…but in the meantime, please start thinking of all the children you could invite to these fun & FREE workshops.
IHSC is being held this year on Miami's beautiful South Beach in the Miami Spa & Resort. Hosted by Billy Fajardo and Katie Marlow, this event is not only one of the greatest Hustle & Salsa events there is, it also offers a great escape to one of America's best vacation destinations. The weekend is complete with parties, competitions, workshops, and a wonderful beach and poolside dancing atmosphere. This year IHSC has added Latin & Rhythm competitions to its schedule so there are more opportunities for you to be the star! If you are interested in joining Top Hat Dance Studio as we head to Miami grab a registration form at the studio, forms sent in through the studio are due by April 20th. 
It's been a few years since Top Hat has attended this local Ballroom and Latin Dance Competition, but we're very excited to announce that we will be heading to Cherry Hill, New Jersey for this incredible 4 day event.
