Dear Top Hat,
Our apologies for the tardy nature of this month's newsletter, but MAD Jam was awesome this past weekend! There were more Top Hat dancers in attendance than ever before and many congratulations are in order for all of the wonderful competitors who took the floor throughout the weekend.
A huge congratulations to Laurie Cauller, Ray Fabrizio, Nina Feldman, Kristina Harple, Amanda Kirkham, Greg Kirkham, Sally Meints, Kelly Meints, Michele Moyer, Kelsey Snader, Erica Wood, Cheryl Youtz, and Don Youtz. There were many personal bests on the floor at Mad Jam and you should all be very proud of your dancing. Spectacular job!
The Teachers of Top Hat also had a great weekend of dancing at Mad Jam. On Friday night Top Hat dominated the Top Three with Jameson Kilburn and Ginny Carey taking 2nd place in the Open Just Hustle category, and Joe Kerner and his partner Stephanie Risser took 3rd place in the same division. Saturday night Daniel McGee and Ginny Carey danced their "Save a Horse" routine in the Open Showcase Division and took 3rd place in a great high energy division. Congratulations to everyone who participated in Mad Jam. It was a huge success and a great weekend! Thank you to Dave Moldover for such a great event and his incredible attention to detail and we definitely look forward to next year!

Student of the Month Spotlight
Meet Emily & Lauren Yost, March's Student of the Month Spotlight. . .
 Emily and Lauren have been part of the Top Hat family for most of their lives. Both girls began attending dance classes at the studio at the age of 3. Emily is now 9 years old and Lauren is 5. This year will mark Emily's 5 th recital with Top Hat Dance Studio!
Outside of the studio, Emily is in 3rd grade at Nazareth Academy and Lauren attends Sunshine Preschool. Besides dance, Emily is also involved in gymnastics. Lauren is an avid "Hannah Montana" fan and is always perfecting her model walks.
When asked about their thoughts on Top Hat, the Yost parents quickly stated that there is "no one better then Miss Ginny & Miss Nina"! They also said, "Top Hat is more of a family than a business." We could not agree more and we are pleased to have these young ladies as part of our family!

March Philadelphia Parties
 The Philadelphia location will be hosting 2 marvelous parties in the month of March.March 22nd will be the West Coast Swing and Hustle party. Due to the success of the West Coast Swing & Hustle party in February, we decided to do it again. Rob Baen will spin all your favorites while you dance the night away!
March 29th will be a Ballroom Bash. Come enjoy a variety of fiery Latin and graceful Smooth dances. A great mix of all Ballroom styles will be played.
Our Hustle & West Coast Weekend in February was a huge success in main part because of the wonderful energy from all of the great people and dancers who came to have a good time. The mix of dancers, music, and energy was such a great recipe to make the evening one to remember. A huge thank you to Tybaldt and Hazel Ulrich for coming to Top Hat and giving not only great workshops and an exhibition Saturday night, but also for giving their time and talent to our dance home. It was a true treat that we hope to be fortunate enough to repeat in the near future. Thank you Hazel and Tybaldt, you're the best!!

March Studio Schedule
Philadelphia:
Salsa and West Coast Swing Classes start a new series at the beginning of every month. The current start dates are March 6th for West Coast Swing and March 7th for Salsa.
New Sunday Classes begin March 2nd. In March, the Ladies Styling Class (1:00pm) will be taught by Vikki Woods. Come learn the famous "Vikki Shake"! Joe Figueroa will be teaching Bachata in the Latin Alternative Class (4:00pm) during March.
The Basic Ballroom 1 & 2 Classes begin new dances March 26th. Basic Ballroom 1 (7:30pm) will be starting East Coast Swing. Basic Ballroom 2 (8:30pm) will be continuing with Foxtrot.
The Rhythm 3 Class (6:30pm) will begin Samba on March 24th. The Smooth 3 Class (7:30pm) will start Quickstep on the same date.
There will be 2 parties in March!
The West Coast Swing Dance Party will be held on March 22nd. The Ballroom Bash Dance Party will be held on March 29th.
Both parties include an all levels group class at 8:00pm with the party beginning at 9:00pm. The cost is $10 per person and you are welcome to BYOB. If you have any questions, please contact the studio.

 Lancaster:Basic Ballroom Classes change dances on March 12th. Basic Ballroom 1 (7:30pm) will begin Tango and Basic Ballroom 2 (8:30pm) will be continuing with Cha Cha.
On March 13th, the Latin 3 Class (6:00pm) will be starting Salsa and the Smooth 3 Class (7:00pm) will begin Foxtrot.
The monthly studio party is on Friday, March 28th. There will be a group class at 8:00pm and the party will immediately follow at 9:00pm.

Upcoming Competitions
Philadelphia Festival Dancesport Championships: April 11 - 13, 2008
 Ballroom & Latin Dancing at its BEST! This is Philadelphia's hometown dance competition and hosts Sandy & Andy Fortuna have always provided one of the best weekends of dance in the area. There are competitions throughout the weekend and a top notch Saturday Night Banquet and Show. If you would like to join us for the competition and/or the Saturday night event, please contact the studio. The Saturday Night Banquet is on a first come, first served basis and most definitely will sell out. (Last year it was sold out 1 full month before the event). Deadlines and pricing information will be coming soon.
International Hustle & Salsa Competition: May 01 - 04, 2008
IHSC is held on Miami's beautiful South Beach in the Miami Spa & Resort. Hosted by Billy Fajardo and Katie Marlow, this event is not only one of the greatest Hustle & Salsa events there is, it also offers a great escape to one of America's best vacation destinations. The weekend is complete with parties, competitions, workshops, and a wonderful beach and poolside dancing atmosphere. This year IHSC has added Latin & Rhythm competitions to its schedule so there are more opportunities for you to be the star! If you are interested in joining Top Hat Dance Studio as we head to Miami, grab a registration form at the studio. Forms sent in through the studio are due by April 14th. All competitors must register through the studio.
